New! All About Coffee and Diabetes
New studies from out of UCLA just published show how coffee and diabetes may have a beneficial relationship for those coffee lovers who can't seem to give up coffee. The benefits of coffee keep mounting up!
Preventing Type 2 Diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes is the most
common form of this debilitating disease, and new studies indicate that
consuming coffee daily may play a role in preventing Type 2 diabetes.
Numerous studies out of UCLA have shown that your favorite morning beverage may also hold protective elements against type 2 diabetes.
Consuming 4 Cups a day: That's a lot

Coffee and Diabetes ... Type 2 Diabetes Prevention
Women who consume a minimum of 4 cups of regular coffee per day may be as little as 50% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes when compared to women who do not drink coffee at all.
In fact, the studies seem to show that the more coffee you drink, the less you're at risk for diabetes. Incredible, isn't it?
Usually we read about how our favorite foods and drinks are bad for
us, but it's rare (even a little unbelievable) to find out that our
favorite coffee may actually be beneficial to us.
Compounds found in coffee, such as magnesium and antioxidants, may also offer other health benefits for you as well.
It is important to note that
the coffee you choose to drink as a preventative measure needs to be
caffeinated, research doesn't yet show conclusively that decaffeinated coffee (sorry!) plays a significant role here. Yet.
If you are wondering where to start, ...
Freshly roasted coffee is significantly better for you than coffee that has been pre-ground and shows signs of staleness.
Gear up with your own home bean grinder, and an easy to use coffee maker of your choice. If you are going to make any investment here, purchase the best grinder you can afford. It's a purchase that will pay for itself many times over.

It's best to purchase your beans from a trusted coffee roaster. I'm fortunate enough to have La Costa Coffee Roasters right in my own backyard, but you can easily find a good source in your own neighborhood, town or city, or perhaps purchase your beans from a reputable online source.
Grind only the amount of beans that you intend to brew right away. Beans lose their potency, flavor and aroma when they are ground and come in contact with air. After all, you don't want to lose all the healthy benefits of coffee, now do you?
It's great to know that coffee diabetes, and type 2 diabetes prevention could be as simple as increasing our consumption of our favorite beverage (see the Science Daily article).
